On the Run

On the Run

"The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." - Albert Einstein

I have always had a fascination with taking photos of things I cannot see, or more specifically, I try to capture those fleeting instinctual glimpses from the periphery undefined and unencumbered by my brain’s perception of time.

This coincides well with my bad habit of taking photos from my car while driving back country roads. This, in turn, derives from my good habit of taking a camera with me everywhere coupled with an obsessive need to see, and hopefully, see differently. I usually don’t show these photos to anyone, it’s more my secret obsession.

No, they are not perfect photos and yes, they most often do look like a two-year-old’s finger paint smudges. But every once in a while I catch rare fleeting surrealistic glimpses of a world I cannot see and possibilities I could not have otherwise perceived. As I look more and more, and attempt to see, I gain appreciation in questions posed and left unanswered and in the perfection of the less perfect but more instinctual.
