One year to go…
There is now less than one year to go until the worlds Paralympic hopefuls assemble in London to compete in the 2012 games. With that milestone in mind, Statement members Mark Lomas and James Dodd were commissioned by Disability Sport Events, The English Federation of Disability Sport and their Sponsors Nationwide to produce a series of ‘in competition’ videos of upcoming junior athletes.
Meggan Dawson-Farrell, featured in the video above, is a wheelchair athlete from Scotland. She competed in the whole range of events from 100m to 1500m at the National Juniors Championships where filming took place. In addition to winning a host of gold medals, Meggan also won the best female athlete. She specialises in the longer distance events and hopes ultimately to compete in the marathon in future Commonwealth and Paralympic games.
Tom Minchington is a multi-disciplinary athlete who competes in both track and field events. Tom took away two gold medals, and one each of bronze and silver from the Junior Championships held at UCLAN in Preston. In addition he helped South West secure the team competition.
